A Moon Crest is the outlet for a Moonbeym's magic. A Moon Crest absorbs and releases bits of magic particles. It's basically like breathing for magic. A Moon Crest should never be covered since it is basically like holding your breath and is often looked down on as taboo. A Moon Crest will eventually burn through anything covering it after a minute. When using magic, your Moon Crest glows with the color of the magic used. This doesn't permanent change the color of the Moon Crest. Moon Crests always stay the same color as when the Moonbeym was born.

Fire - red glow

Earth - green glow

Water - blue glow

Air - yellow glow

Moon - purple glow

Even when covered the glow will shine through and whatever is covering the Moon Crest will instantly be burned away. It will not burn things that are part of the Moonbeym such as their hair or if they put their hand over it, though it will feel warm. 

 

There are three types of Moon Crest - Crescent, Half, and Full.

 

Each Crescent shows a level of magic and is directly tied to how much magic a Moonbeym can learn.

 

Crescent can learn 4 basics, 1 intermediate, 1 advance

 

Half can learn 4 basics, 2 intermediate, 1 advance

 

Full can learn 4 basics, 2 intermediate, 2 advance

 

There is a special magical artifact that can lock away a Moon Crest. A Moonbeym having their Moon Crest locked causes them to slowly go catatonic until they are basically an empty vessel. It can also cause mental and magical damage.
